The background to Little Book
as an effective communication medium

The Little Book by AGI Media

The Little Book Company Limited was established by Patrick De la Hunty, the product’s inventor. The product fold and book-like structure was sufficiently innovative to be granted a patent and since that time, Patrick along with AGI Media has applied for further patents extending the range of products and derivatives.

The Story So Far

Little Books have established themselves as one of the world’s most effective communication mediums ensuring that whatever the message, they will deliver it quickly and effectively and over a longer time frame than almost any other medium.

There are many reasons for the success of Little Books, but perhaps the most important is their subliminal attraction to most people, based on their imitation of the real thing. Books are important to us all; they have educated us and given us pleasure since our earliest days. Very few of us throw away books; we would rather give them away than suffer the trauma of destroying them.

There is also the almost universal interest in all things miniature. It seems to be a human trait that we are fascinated with mini versions of familiar things. One has only to consider the vast market in collectables of miniature articles of all sorts.

There is also a train of thought which might explain the extraordinary appeal Little Books have and why they work so well. It is said that the brain stores information in different ways in order to retrieve it as efficiently as possible. In particular, shapes play an important role in memory retention so it might be that a three dimensional item such as a book would have greater importance than, say, a flat sheet brochure. Therefore, the brain is able to retrieve information relating to a book-like shape more efficiently than the same information in flat sheet form.

This is borne out by our own experiences with our users; Little Books are simply not treated in the same way as conventional flat sheet media. They rarely end up in a pile of other literature, they are seldom filed (out of sight and out of mind); invariably they are either kept on the person, on the desk within sight or placed in a desk drawer for later immediate retrieval. They continue to work long after conventional material has been forgotten.

AGI Media recognised the appeal of the miniature booklets and now has the sole licence to produce the Little Books on a global basis from The Little Book Company Limited.
